The Hazelwood Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Team is responsible for the follow-up investigation of criminal matters referred to them by the Neighborhood Patrol Teams.
The Hazelwood Police Department maintains a separate traffic unit for the sole purpose of handling traffic enforcement and crashes with reported injuries or fatalities.
The Youth Interaction Team is comprised of five officers. One officer is assigned as the Juvenile Detective, one as the Demand Reduction Officer (DRO or D.A.R.E) and three other officers are assigned to the Hazelwood School District as School Resource Officers.
The Communication Unit operates 24/7/365 and is comprised of Telecommunicators, or Dispatchers, which operate the Department's 911 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) and radio communications system.
